$2,898,724 Rolls Royce Phantom V 1965 of John Lennon

Magic Mystery Tour was a film about the music of the Beatles in 1967. While the media scrutinized the film, there were six songs by the Beatles in it. The Rolls Royce of John Lennon was repainted in psychedelic swirls and flowers instead of the original black. Canada’s Royal British Columbia bought the car eventually for almost three million dollars.

“A Day in the Life” was the last song of the Sgt. Pepper album by the Beatles. This was separately written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon. Reportedly, Lennon wrote each word based on the news of the current day while the lyrics were written by McCartney based on his youth. While they linked together the different segments, the song was banned from actually being broadcast due to the line “I’d love to turn you on” by BBC. This was a reference they assumed had to do with drugs. Later, the song was covered by different artists including the Bee Gees, Neil Young and Sting, among others. The song was ranked by Rolling Stones as the greatest song ever written by the Beatles.

The Blackie guitar by Eric Clapton was his mane studio and solo stage guitar from 1970 to 1985. His fans called the guitar Blackie and it was actually a Fender Stratocaster color black. Later Christie’s held an auction and in 2004 the guitar sold five times more than expectations.

$182,385 for the 1963 Rolls-Royce of Elvis Presley

Between the years 1959 and 1968, Rolls-Royce made the Phantom V, which was super exclusive. While this four-door luxury vehicle was possessed by Queen Elizabeth II and her mother, it was also the ceremonial car of the Hong Kong Governor. Elvis Presley also owned the elite Rolls-Royce Phantom V of 1963 and was sold for $182,385 in 1986. Throughout the history of car makers, only five hundred sixteen of this car was ever created.

In the late seventies, The Clash, an English band playing punk rock music came together. They created music incorporating various styles and sounds from hard rock, pop, lounge jazz and even reggae. London Calling was the title of the third album of the band created in a studio. In the UK, this album was released in 1979 and a year later in the United States. Good reviews followed the band which featured its diversity and social themes including maturity, drugs, race and employment. Worldwide, the album London Calling has sold five million copies and the original album was sold at Bonham’s for $119,380 in the year 2009.
