Bvlgari supports Nepal through Save The Children organization and donates 500’000 Euros for help

The Italian Jewelry house Bvlgari donated 500’000 Euros to Nepal via the Save the Children association for immediate financial support to the 320’000 homeless children after the tragic earthquarke that strucked on April 28th.

After the devastating earthquake that struck in Nepal on April 28 at a 7.8 magnitude on the richter scale where 6.800 people have died, 14’000 were injured and over 320’000 children are now homeless…

The massive destruction of roads, bridges and infrastructure made communication and immediate help complicated. Fortunately, the teams from Save the Children association were able to be dispatched just a few hours after the event.

In a timely manner and reactive financial help where Bvlgari donated 500’000 Euros, CEO Jean-Christophe Babin told officials that: “The earthquake in Nepal has had such devastating consequences. We need to do as much as we can, and as quickly as we can. The children and their families are our first priority. Especially in the critical area of nutrition which is the focus of Milano 2015 Universal Exhibition where we already collaborate with Save the Children on this crucial theme.”

Soon after the aftermath, rescue temas have provided first aid and baby kits, heated gloves, soap and blankets to save children from the cold and ensure some hygiene.  In regards to the concrete actions that occured since the drama:
– Teams have been working with the local government to take care of the children’s family in providing necessary psychological support.
– Ensuring access to safe drinking water and sanitary solutions as children are the most vulnerable.
– Set up temporary shelters and place for rehabilitation and education replacing the damaged schools.

Save the Children has been an active organization in Nepal since 1976 and developed a strenght in managing crisis after critical events such as earthquakes. Bvlgari has been involved with Save the Children since 2009… donating over $ 35 million to the organization providing assistance to more than 700’000 children within 25 countries worldwide with a specific focus on education and extreme emergency.
