If you have braces, you can express your personality and style through the colored ligatures. This way, you’re not stuck with the plain metal braces. However, if you’ve been thinking about adding a lip piercing to the mix, it might be best to read our blog first before making your decision.
Do a New Lip Piercing & Braces Go Together?
While you can get your lip pierced if you have braces, it’s best to wait until after the braces are off. This is because when you get a new lip piercing, the initial jewelry is going to be longer to allow for any swelling that may take place. The longer length of the jewelry will make it more likely that the back of the post will catch on your braces while you are talking, eating, or laughing, causing unnecessary trauma to the piercing and also potentially chipping your braces, which will make the treatment last longer.
For the safety of your piercing and your braces treatment it is best to wait until after your braces are off to get your lip pierced. Alternatively, you can opt for invisible or clear braces, like Invisalign®, which don’t have the metal brackets for a lip piercing to get caught on if your dentist recommends.
When you’re ready, and your lip piercing is healed enough, we have a large selection of lip rings to choose from.
