Eleuterio, 90 years of history

The Eleuterio brand was founded in 1925 by Eleuterio Antunes in Travassos, in northern Portugal, a region with strong craft traditions in jewelry. The company has always specialized in the art of filigree, an ancient technique of producing jewelry with a fine gold thread. Today, the grandchildren of the founder – Rosa and Luis Antunes – continue to keep the work of its artisans alive. All the parts are produced in-house. The jewels have gained a new aesthetic, with new designs, new combinations of gold, diamonds and high standards of quality and finish.

Filigree, preserving an art with 5.000 years

The filigree technique appeared about 5.000 years ago in ancient Mesopotamia, expanded to various parts of the world and reached the North of Portugal thousands of years ago, by hand of the Phoenicians. With the “Discoveries”, the Portuguese traveled around the world and were able to confront their knowledge of the art of filigree with other people’s. With what they learned, the evolved to create the best filigree in the world.

Eleuterio a été fondé en 1925 par Eleuterio Antunes à Travassos, dans le nord du Portugal, une région aux fortes traditions artisanales dans la joaillerie. Depuis toujours il s’est spécialisé dans l’art du filigrane, une ancienne technique de produire des pièces à partir de fins fils en or. Aujourd’hui, les petits-enfants du fondateur – Rose et Luis Antunes – fidèles à la tradition familiale, continuent à maintenir vivant le travail de ses artisans. Toutes les pièces sont produites en interne. Les bijoux ont gagné un nouveau look, avec de nouveaux designs, de nouvelles combinaisons d’or, de diamants et un haut niveau de qualité et de fabrication.

La technique du filigrane est apparue il y a à peu près 5.000 ans dans l’ancienne Mésopotamie. Avec la période des Découvertes, les Portugais ont parcouru le monde et ont pu confronter leurs connaissances de l’art du filigrane avec celles d’autres cultures. Avec ce qu’ils ont appris, ils ont évolué pour créer le meilleur filigrane au monde.
