The Roaring ‘20s are reborn, flashing across the silver screen with the grand opening on May 10th of the celebrated film, The Great Gatsby. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Joel Edgerton and Tobey Maguire, F. Scott’s Fitzgerald’s colorful masterpiece of wealth, corruption and love unrequited and lost is set against the backdrop of the Jazz Age and all its glitzy and glamorous Art Deco trappings.

Elegant beads and exotic feathers often accessorized the short glittery dresses of the day and intricate beading was a special feature of flapper hats. While the jewelry ranged from the more traditional, sedate pieces influenced by art nouveau and the residue of the Victorian era to bolder colors and geometric designs, symbolizing a new freedom of expression and unabashed desire.
