TRIANGL review: Winnie in Arizona Sunset (dupe)

I’m so excited to share my first review with you! This review will focus solely on the Winnie top, as I’ve been searching exclusively for Triangl tops (my reasoning is in this blog post).

First off, I’d like to disclose something. I purchased this top believing that it was authentic, as it seemed to have all the traits of a real Triangl Winnie top. However, I learned fairly recently that it was actually just a very good dupe, likely off of AliExpress. Therefore, it is up to you to decide whether or not this review accurately gauges a Winnie top, though I’ve heard that AliExpress bikinis are almost exactly identical to the real thing. I now know better, but there are some very fine distinctions between the real thing and a fake, so if you’d like to find out how to tell a real Triangl from a fake, read this.

Without further ado, here’s the review!

My first very first Triangl purchase took place on Poshmark; I bought the Winnie top in Arizona Sunset in the size XS. I was so stoked to get it and still remember the day it arrived. I mean, it was MY FIRST TRIANGL PIECE. I had just gotten home from school, and it was a cold, gloomy Friday, so I was really looking forward to what was waiting for me in the mailbox.

I remember thinking, “How.. orange.” when I first laid my eyes on it. However, orange isn’t exactly my color, so ignore my slight disappointment; if you love orange, I think you’ll be very happy with the shade Arizona Sunset.

After putting it on— and I must say, having a zipper in the front is very convenient if you’re not so great at navigating a snap-on clasp on your back— my excitement quickly dimmed. Remember how I mentioned it was a cold day? Yeaaaah. Let’s just say things were a bit.. nippy. Even though the Triangl top is constructed from a nice, thick layer of neoprene.

That wasn’t the only issue I had with it. As a person with a smaller chest (32A/B), I had the feeling that it could come off easily in the water, especially since water is quite heavy and can and will drag things down with it. After several Internet searches, I found that many people had issues with it coming off while swimming or during other water activities and recommended it just for sunbathing. So.. Not exactly functional.

Another thing was that from the side, things looked rather flat, if you know what I mean. It wasn’t a huge problem for me, as I am totally okay with what I’ve got up there, but if you’re seeking a bit of enhancement, the Winnie wouldn’t be the best option for you.

If you really like this top and wear the same bra size as I do, I sadly must inform you that I don’t think the Winnie will work out. An XXS may fit better in the cups but will be too tight around the ribs, while an XS will be a little large in the cups but fit nicely around the ribs.

Psst. See that raw hem? This is one of the signs of an inauthentic Triangl.

Meanwhile, I’ve read that women with fuller chests found that this top made their girls practically spill out. Perhaps this is a top meant for women more in the middle range in terms of boob size?

With all this in mind, I decided to return to Poshmark to relist the top.. And my search for another began.

P.S. I apologize for the not-so-great photos. They were all taken on my iPhone, before I knew I’d be posting about this.
