What Is the VCH Piercing? We Have the Answers to All of Your Questions.

As a piercing meant for private enjoyment only, the VCH (vertical clitoral hood) piercing holds an aura of mystery. While even the name, vertical clitoral hood piercing, might make you wince (“Who would even want to get pierced there?” you could be thinking), you may be surprised at how many people, from stay-at-home moms to celebrities, have and love this piercing.

Most of you probably carry a lot of questions when it comes to the VCH piercing, whether it’s a piercing you’re considering or you just want to satiate your curiosity. Luckily, we have it all here for you. Here’s what you need to know about the VCH piercing.

What is the VCH piercing?

Let’s start with the basics: what exactly is this piercing?

You can probably venture a guess based on the name “vertical clitoral hood piercing.” The VCH piercing is a genital piercing that vertically pierces the top portion of the clitoral hood. The main purpose of the VCH piercing is twofold: since the bottom portion of the piercing rests directly on the clitoris, it increases sexual pleasure for the wearer, and it decorates the genital area, which simply serves to make the wearer feel good. (It’s kind of like wearing sexy underwear to work; you know that you’re the only one who will see it, but it still feels good to be dressed up down there.)

If this were your genitals, this is roughly where the VCH piercing would be placed.

Although there are many types of genital piercings, the VCH piercing is the most common one among those with female genitalia. However, you must have the proper anatomy to wear one, and many don’t have a clitoral hood that’s suitable for the VCH piercing. Since this piercing is located in such a sensitive area, you want to listen to your piercer if they advise against it. There are tons of other genital piercing options for you to choose from, and you don’t want to risk getting a piercing that could decrease sensitivity or cause other issues in that area.

Does the VCH piercing increase sexual pleasure?

Yes, it does, for the vast majority of wearers.

Since a portion of the jewelry sits directly on the clitoris, most people who get this piercing have reported that they found it easier to climax after they received the VCH piercing. In fact, many who couldn’t achieve orgasm before they got the piercing were able to for the very first time after getting their VCH piercing.

However, it’s incredibly important that you choose a reputable piercer and that you’re open with them.

While the placement of the piercing partially depends upon your anatomy, your piercer will also want to place it in a way that increases your pleasure. To achieve this, you need to be able to have a discussion with them about your preferences and what feels good to you.

If you feel uncomfortable talking with your piercer about these things, then you should rethink getting a genital piercing at all. This is a very intimate process during which the piercer will need to spend a lot of time looking at your genital region to determine the proper placement. If you’re uncomfortable talking about your genitals and preferences, then you’ll probably be pretty uncomfortable with other aspects of the VCH piercing process.

Is the VCH piercing dangerous?

If you choose a reputable piercer, then the VCH piercing shouldn’t be any more dangerous than any other piercing. However, finding a piercer who is experienced in genital piercings, specifically, is vital. This may mean taking a trip to get it done, especially if you live in a rural area.

You probably already know that there are tons of nerve endings in the genital region. If your piercer accidentally pierces the wrong area, then you run the risk of permanently losing some sensation, which you really don’t want in your genital area. Therefore, you don’t want just anyone messing around with your VCH piercing.

You might be understandably nervous to get your VCH pierced, but if you choose a reputable piercer, it’s not as scary as you might think.

Beyond finding a piercer who knows how to do the piercing well, they need to be professional about the process. Many piercers require a consultation before they do a genital piercing, and when it comes time to actually perform the piercing, they’re going to dedicate more than a few moments to make sure that it’s in the right place. This means that the piercer is going to spend a significant stint in your private areas.

Because of this, you need to find a piercer that you’re comfortable with. Don’t be afraid to ask for a preferred gender, and if at any time you feel uncomfortable with the process, you can ask your piercer to stop. Piercers experienced with genital piercings want you to be as comfortable as possible, and they won’t be offended when you request what you need.

Along those lines, if at any point, you feel as though your piercer has crossed a line, speak out. Those in the piercing community pride themselves on conducting any piercing in a safe, professional manner, and it has no place for piercers who abuse their position.

Does the VCH piercing hurt?

You might be surprised to discover that the VCH piercing hurts a lot less than you’d anticipate.

If you’re like most people, you probably wince when you think about a needle going anywhere near the clitoral hood. However, many people have said that the pinch they felt was about the same as when they got their lobes pierced and less than the pain they felt when they got their cartilage pierced.

Of course, everyone’s tolerance to pain is different, so you might experience more or less pain. However, you might be surprised at how easy it is.

How long does the VCH piercing take to heal?

The genitals actually heal quite quickly on their own, and the VCH takes a minimum of four to eight weeks to heal.

Although you’re probably excited to try out your new VCH piercing, you must wait for the entire 4 – 8 week healing period before you test it out in the bedroom.

You might think that the location makes it more susceptible to infection because of urination, discharge, and other natural happenings, but the opposite is true. While you do still need to clean your VCH piercing daily with a homemade sea salt mixture or piercing aftercare saline solution, your vaginal area is already designed to be self-cleaning. Because of this, as long as you maintain good hygiene and adhere to standard piercing aftercare, you shouldn’t have any problems when it comes to healing your VCH piercing.

What to avoid while healing your VCH piercing

If you want to get your VCH pierced in order to feel increased sexual pleasure, you’re probably keen to get in the bedroom and give it a test run.

However, like every other piercing, you need to keep the jewelry as still as possible during healing in order to avoid complications. Here are some things that you need to avoid while your VCH piercing heals.

  • Sexual intercourse
  • Oral sex
  • Touching the jewelry at all
  • Swimming and taking baths
  • Limit alcohol and drug use

We know that you might get a little impatient, but it’s worth it for a safe healing process. The good news is that the VCH piercing heals quite quickly, so you should be able to enjoy it to its fullest extent sooner rather than later (as long as you take care of it while it heals).

The VCH piercing and pregnancy

Whether you’re planning on getting pregnant soon or sometime in the future, you’re probably wondering whether the VCH piercing will affect that.

The good news is that a healed VCH piercing shouldn’t get in your way at all, even through childbirth. Many who have the VCH piercing haven’t had to take it out at all, and if they do, it’s purely by choice. The location of the VCH piercing usually doesn’t impede the birthing process.

What jewelry can I wear in my VCH piercing?

You might be surprised at the variety of jewelry options you can wear in your VCH.

You can wear anything from curved barbells, circular barbells, and a variety of hoop styles. You can even enjoy jewelry with charms, pearls, and gemstones.

Keep in mind that your jewelry will have a part to play in increasing your sexual pleasure. Everyone is different, so once your piercing has fully healed, you might want to try out a few different jewelry types until you discover the perfect VCH jewelry for you.

Whether you’re looking to improve your sex life or you want a sexy new piece of jewelry that makes you feel confident, then the VCH piercing could be just what you’re looking for. It’s not as scary as you think, as long as you put in the time to research a reputable piercer, and you can have a lot of fun decorating it and feeling beautiful.
