Which Order Do You Wear Engagement, Wedding, and Eternity Rings?| CHURINGA JEWELRY TIP

3,

When you have multiple rings to wear on one finger, it can be confusing to figure out which order to wear them.

A simple rule of thumb (ring finger?) is to put your wedding ring on first. Wedding rings should always be put on before engagement rings or any other rings. If you have an eternity ring, put it on last.

Which order to wear engagement, wedding, and eternity rings

If you have an engagement ring, a wedding ring, and an eternity ring, put them on your left-hand ring finger in this order: wedding ring, engagement ring, eternity ring. Your wedding ring should be on the bottom, then your engagement ring, and finally your eternity ring.

Things get a little more complicated if your significant other proposed with an eternity ring. In this case, after you are married you should put your wedding ring on first, then the eternity ring. In the end, the order you wear your rings is up to you.

Does it matter which order I wear my rings?

To be completely honest, no. It doesn’t really matter which order you wear your rings. It is a personal preference whether you follow or break tradition.

Keep in mind that if you do break tradition and switch up the way you wear your engagement ring and wedding ring, people may point out that they are in the wrong order. To avoid this, always put your wedding ring on before any other ring.

What is an eternity ring?

An eternity ring is given to a spouse as a symbol of never-ending love. You may be thinking, isn’t that what the engagement ring and wedding ring were for? While they do represent the same thing, eternity rings are a reminder of the promises you made to each other years later.

Eternity rings are typically given after at least a year of marriage, traditionally after ten years. They serve as a symbol of rededication years after the wedding.

If you are planning to renew your vows, an eternity ring can serve as the ring you place on your significant other’s hand, rather than reusing the same wedding ring.

Eternity rings are encrusted with diamonds all the way around. The “never-ending” diamonds around the ring give it its name “eternity.” The reason you do not hear of eternity earrings or eternity necklaces is because rings are circles, which also represent eternity.

What is the difference between eternity rings and infinity rings?

Infinity rings have the infinity symbol (sideways 8) incorporated in their design. Infinity rings are not typically given as a symbol of love. They are more of a fashion statement than a promise of never-ending love.

Eternity rings can be a great way to remind your significant other of the promises you made on your wedding day.

Eternity rings serve as a symbol of never-ending love, much like an engagement ring or wedding ring, but they are traditionally given after years of marriage.

You don’t have to follow tradition. You can wear your rings in whatever order you like. To make things simple, you can use a wedding ring as an engagement ring and simply wear the one ring.
