The answer to the question of ‘how much does a wedding ring cost?’ is ‘as much as you want to spend’.

I make everything I sell by hand here in London, and I’m able to keep the costs low because there is no middleman selling my jewellery for me and there is no importing. What’s more, because I work on a small scale, I’m able to control the prices. Jewellery often receives an 8 to 10 times mark up between manufacturer and consumer due to the extra people involved, but because I take care of every single step of the ring-making process, from consultation to sales, my rings are accessible to anyone’s pocket.
Unlike with engagement rings, where the traditional adage was that an engagement ring should cost one or two month’s salary, with wedding rings there is no such rule for you to apply. One of the most crucial things that have an impact on price is the carat of the metal from which your band will be made. Typically, the higher the carat, the higher the price tag.
If you’re on a budget, then having a plain band can mean a much lower price tag. However, this does not mean that you need to sacrifice highlighting your creativity and personality. Having an embellished ring can be a very cost-effective way of finding a wedding ring that suits you and your pocket. Embellished wedding rings can be engraved, contain a contrasting metal inlay, include a milgrain or have an eye-catching finish like hammered or brushed metal. You could also experiment with trying on different ring widths and depths as you might be surprised by what suits you. Just remember that you want a ring that is comfortable to wear as well as practical, as you’ll be wearing it for many years to come!
