Piercings of high quality, how do you recognize them?

Every piercing wearer wants a piercing of high quality of course. Piercings can be bought at lots of different places. Not only at Piercingmania but also at other sites, on the market or during your vacation in foreign countries. But how do you know if it is a piercing of high quality? Therefore two points to pay attention to, so that you don’t buy the wrong piercing.

Piercing material well heated and cooled

For non-metallic materials like acryl it is difficult to tell with your hands and eyes only, how the quality is. Metals on the other hand are a bit easier to control. If a piercing is made out of the right metal, it is manufactured in a specific manner. For surgical steel, it is especially easy to recognize the quality.

The process is called tempering. It is about the heating and cooling of the material. The heating and cooling of the material have an influence on the hardness of the material. For your piercing you want that the metal is strong enough to prevent damage, but soft enough to be easily placed and changed.

Bad surgical steel piercings are nearly always too hard. It seems like your fingers don’t have an effect on it. Balls are again and again difficult to loosen. Especially for ball closure rings it’s an impossible exercise.

Do you have the feeling that you can’t damage a piercing with your fingers? Then it’s probably bad quality steel. Of course it is not meant that you actually bend the staff or other subparts! Then you damage the piercing. However you can already feel, if you would succeed if you exerted a bit of power on the piercing.

Polishing and the finish of the piercing

If something is important for a piercing then it is a smooth surface. You shouldn’t wear piercings with holes, scratches and declensions. Dirt gets in the damage and can end up in your piercing this way.

They also interrupt the healing process and can scour. It is even worse when skin grows in the damage during the convalescence and is ripped of again if you move. If that happens again and again scar tissue develops in your piercing and you want to prevent that in all cases!

Furthermore look well at the piercing. A good new piercing always shines, which is caused by the finish. Besides, the reflection shows you if there are any bumps. Polishing the piercings makes sure, that there are no bumps left.
