If the Little Mermaid had had the opportunity to transform herself into a jewel to escape Ursula’s wrath, no doubt she would have opted for this fairy ring.

Directly inspired by Andersen’s famous tale – the designer’s favorite tale – the play invites us to travel, to discover the sea bed. We like to let ourselves be guided by this precious compass whose tip takes the shape of a fish tail, or that of a mermaid, punctuated with white diamonds. On the other arm, a superb 2.53 carat Ceylon sapphire proudly sits enthroned, catching everyone’s eye.

This ring emanates the influence of Art Nouveau aesthetics, with features borrowed from Lalique or Fouquet, which Frédérique Berman here gives a contemporary interpretation with taut lines.

On the technical side, the designer chose to mix white gold with titanium to accentuate the veins of the tail and thus enhance the contrasts. As Frédérique Berman explains: “I wanted to give the striations a blue hue, echoing the sapphire, while providing an iridescent sheen. Titanium seemed to me to be the most suitable material to achieve this objective and to inject the right dose of innovation into the Ariel ring.”

A way of once again recalling the essence of the jeweler’s craft, that of bringing together the oldest techniques and the most advanced innovations, without forgetting to distil the necessary magic. A recipe skillfully mastered by the creator of the Ariel ring.
