It is to this day the most beautiful catch of the American jeweller, known worldwide for his exceptional diamonds, alongside the legendary Tiffany Diamond, one of the largest and purest yellow diamonds in the world.

With this rare stone, Tiffany pays homage to one of its finest creations: a necklace decorated with diamond motifs, the centre of which radiated an imposing beryl. Unveiled at the World’s Fair in New York in 1939, this piece caused a sensation among the 44 million visitors to this international exhibition, attracted by one of the most promising themes, that of shedding light on the world of tomorrow.

The original necklace presented by Tiffany & Co. at the 1939 World’s Fair in New York.

It was also at this show that Tiffany announced the opening of its iconic boutique on 5th Avenue the following year, in 1940. A strategic choice that would already demonstrate its perfect mastery of the art of teasing and which the jeweller is giving us, at the beginning of 2021, a new interpretation.

If this imposing diamond is entrusted with the mission of reviving an anthology necklace, it is also the bearer of a future rejoicing, that of the reopening in 2022 of the jeweller’s New York address.

As Victoria Reynolds, Chief Gemologist of Tiffany & Co, explains, this announcement heralds

the opening of a new page in the history of jewelry: “What better way to mark the opening in 2022 of our completely reinvented flagship shop than to re-imagine this incredible necklace from the 1939 World’s Fair, one of our most admired pieces when we first opened the shop on 57th Street and 5th Avenue.”

The revisiting of the necklace, as planned with this superb 80 carat diamond.

With its 80 carats, this superb oval D colour diamond is also a symbol of Tiffany’s diamond traceability policy. The gem is responsibly mined in Botswana, Africa, and will be mounted by the brand’s craftsmen in New York City.

Patience will still be needed for the brand’s faithful followers who are eager to discover the new setting of the 5th and revisit this exceptional necklace.
