The most common problem when stretching your ear lobe

The most common problem before stretching your ear lobe is knowing how easy the stretching process is , and knowing when its ready for stretching. More than ever stretching your ear lobe is increasingly popular. It is impossible to imagine that only a few years ago this trend was a new concept! The appearance maybe appealing and fashionable but its crucial that you stretch your ear responsibility.

Time!

The time it takes to stretch your ear differs form person to person. The general rule is each size bigger will take one month at a time, however bare in mind that this does not apply to everyone!

One of the biggest pitfalls, time…

If you want to stretch your ear you have to have patience, its better to take your time rather than rush the stretching process. If you stretch your ear too quickly then scar tissue around the stretched hole can form, which causes irritation making stretching either uncomfortable or even impossible to do.

‘The point of no return’

When doubting about stretching your earlobe you must take into consideration the chance of your earlobe not returning to its original size, ‘can a stretched earlobe heal?’ – More often than not the answer is yes. But of course, here are a few important points to remember before using a stretcher:

–          Everyone is different. The healing process of a stretched hole depends on each individual. This means that even if you have taken care when stretching there is also a risk of it not returning or healing to its normal size.

–           The point of no return: Once you stretch your ear lobe larger that 6mm chances increase of not returning to its original size. At this point the only option is to have surgery, but generally if the stretched hole does not go above 6mm then it should be able to heal naturally. But keep in mind everyone is different!

–          Too fast: If you stretch your ear too fast if creates the risk of scar tissue. This can often interfere with the healing process and can make your earlobe skewed and in some case the scar tissue can be over stretch making it grow back in the wrong position. Do you have scarring? If so, consult your piercer.

Heal!

Finally, it is crucial that you let the earlobe completely heal before you stretch any further which will ensure that you can stretch again making the hole bigger, which of course is the whole appeal!

Have patience, good hygiene and a bit of common sense! So remember before stretching that your earlobe is not the same as a normal piercing! Think before doing and do your research!
