Getting your lips pierced

Maybe you already have a lip piercing or you thinking about getting one. Getting your lips pierced is something special.

Instead of trying to explain what it means to get your lip piercing done, we rather show you this video to see for yourself.
In this video, you get a good view on how a lip piercing is done. Later on, the video will also answer some questions you might have.

Labret Studs

Labret Piercings

Most common sizes:
Thickness 1.6 mm
Length 10 mm
Ball size 4 mm

Shop Labret Studs

The labret stud is by far the most popular piercing used for lip piercings. Both labrets with balls, spikes and figurines are perfectly suited to wear. For all ‘bites’ piercings, the labret studs are most seen. In our shop, you will find countless designs.
Labret piercings made of metals, like surgical steel or titanium are a great choice when you are looking for quality products. They fit perfectly and won’t break so easily. The only downside is that metal is not the best choice for your teeth. That’s why you will see a lot of people using BioFlex labret studs instead.

Labrets made of acrylic or BioFlex usually have so-called ‘push-fit’ tops. These tops are not screwed inside the bar, which makes it harder to stay in place. The labret studs also break much faster, so always make sure to keep a few extra.

Circular Barbells

Circular Barbells

Most common sizes:
Thickness 1.6 mm
Length 10 mm
Ball size 4 mm

Shop Circular Barbells

The circular barbell is a great alternative for the labret piercing. You might recognise this piercing from the ‘smiley piercing’ (see photo below). Get a whole new look by changing your labret stud with a circular barbell. Let the piercing fall over your lips and show both balls from the circular barbell.

This ‘horseshoe’ piercing usually is made of metals like surgical steel. When wearing this piercing, also keep your teeth in mind. You can consider getting an acrylic circular barbell.

The length you need can vary as you want to wear the horseshoe piercing in the corner of your lips. Try out both 8 mm and 10 mm lengths to see what fits best and what is most comfortable for yourself.

Ball Closure Rings

Ball Closure Rings

Most common sizes:
Thickness 1.6 mm
Length 10 mm
Ball size 4 mm

Shop Ball Closure Rings

Just like the circular barbell piercing, the ball closure ring is also a lovely alternative for the the labret stud. The piercing is quite similar to the circular barbell, so keep the same information in mind.

The most significant difference is placing a ball closure ring. The ball is kept in place  by the pressure of the ring itself. With the help of special piercing forceps, the ring must be opened in order to remove the ball. Once in place, the ball can be placed back, after which the ring needs to be closed again.

Placing a ball closure ring can be quite frustrating. Luckily, there are special ball closure rings available with fixed balls. This makes it much easier to change these type of piercing rings.

Curved Barbells

Curved Barbells

Most common sizes:
Thickness 1.6 mm
Length 8 or 10 mm
Ball size 4 mm

Shop Curved Barbells

You will see the curved barbell used for the ‘vertical labret’ piercing. While the name implicates that a labret stud is used it’s, in fact, the curved barbell that you will see being used.
A labret piercing is suited for this type of lip piercing, but the flat back of the labret stud will be visible.

The curved barbell offers many variation possibilities with different colours, balls, spikes and figurine tops.
