All information about piercing accessories

The piercing accessories page on Piercing Mania is filled with bars, balls and other loose piercing parts. You can use them in clever ways to your advantage. You can assemble your very own piercing, repair or upgrade any old or broken piercings. But the accessories page might also come in handy when you have a nickel allergy.

Make your own piercing

With the products you’ll find in the accessories category, you can make your very own piercing from scratch. Not only fun to do but also very convenient. All you need to do is select your preferred bar and add two balls.

Are you for example planning on making your own belly piercing? A standard belly button piercing has a top ball of 5 mm and a lower ball of 8 mm. Place a curved bar of your choice in between and you’re all done.

You can do the same for twisters, circular barbells, labret piercings and many more. An especially neat feature if you often deviate from the standard sizes.

It is also possible to use dermal tops as tongue piercing or labret tops. You’ll need the internally screwed labret bar. Normal balls and tops are always internally screwed and are meant for externally screwed bars. Because this labret bar is the opposite it opens up the whole dermal top category to use as labret tops.

Replacing piercing parts

Besides making a whole new piercing, you can also use the products to replace any missing or damaged parts of your old piercing. Especially in a time where we are all trying to handle our possessions as durable as possible. Any lost or damaged balls are no longer a reason to throw your old piercing in the garbage.

Replacing a (not damaged) existing part can also give an old piercing a whole new impulse. If you were to replace your top tongue piercing ball with a solid golden ball you would get the look and quality of a solid golden tongue piercing. Without the need for a golden bar and second ball (which isn’t even visible), a golden tongue piercing becomes quite a bit more affordable.

Another reason to replace parts is size. Belly button piercings, for example, are always delivered with a standard belly bar of 10 mm in length. For most people the perfect size, but not for all. By replacing the bar with a shorter or longer bar, you could easily increase comfort.

Do take note that not all piercing have interchangeable bars! You can check this at the product specifications of each piercing.

Nikkel allergy and piercings

Replacing parts can be fun, convenient and sometimes also necessary. Not only to get the most comfortable size but also when you have an allergy. The nickel allergy is on the most annoying allergies for any piercing enthusiast. By far the most piercings are made from surgical steel, which contains nickel. If you would like to know more about nickel and piercing materials in general, read our piercing materials blog.

There is a trick through which most people with a nickel allergy could still wear steel piercings. Especially if the allergy isn’t that severe. Replacing the steel bar of a piercing with a titanium bar would minimize exposure to the steel significantly. Make sure that your desired piercing has an interchangeable bar, though!
